8×8 Mass Timber

As urban population grows, the need for affordable housing is becoming increasingly urgent. We are exploring the concept of three-dimensional neighbourhoods, in which not only living, but also other functions are given a place. 8×8 is a three-dimensional district featuring four towers. Each of these towers has a transparent zigzagging façade that exposes the solid wooden structure. 

By integrating public spaces and services into the building, the vertical neighborhood can serve as a vibrant hub for social and economic activity, fostering a sense of community among residents while simultaneously solving the local housing crisis.
